A Systematic Review of Published Studies on Patient Safety in Korea

Abstract
Patient safety globally has been paid attention to a sailent issue among national agenda in healthcare. Agenda for health in domestic is moving to establish the way of getting improved patient safety and quality of health care. Patient safety is a fundamental demand in our country"s dentistry and this study implemented a systematic review of published studies on patient safety.
The articles was retrived from KM base, KISS, DBpia, RISS, National Assembly Library and a "Patient Safety" term was only used. Following on the literature search and study selection processed, the initial literature search identified 633 citations, fifty-five articles met our inclusion criteria. The nursing primarily identified as a major subject of studies (52.7%). The instrument used in patient safety culture was mainly the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture released by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, which was translated into Korean (38.2%). The main propose of the studies was to investigate the perception of patient safety culture and safety care activities (40%). The intervenstion suggested for the patient safety culture identified the effective coordination and teamwork skills, openness of communication against prevention of safety accident. Despite of an interim report about patient safety, the contribution of the study is to summariz published studies on patient safety in Korea.
